It is important to know what food we can feed to our pets, as some seemingly-innocent food can be toxic and harmful to our dogs.

In light of that and to answer your question, Yes, chihuahuas can eat eggs. As long as they are cooked, they are a healthy food to feed to a chihuahua as they contain protein and nutrients that are beneficial to them.

Raw eggs are not yet known to be dangerous to dogs and as such, I’d advice against feeding it to your chihuahua.

1. Salt

Salt can be harmful to dogs when ingested in large quantities, so, go gently on the seasoning.

If ingested in a large quantity, it could result in dehydration, seizure, vomiting and diarrhoea src.

2. Cottage Cheese

Adding cottage cheese to your eggs can make a very delicious batch but you should never offer them to your chihuahua.

Although it has not been found to be fatal in dogs, it should be limited in their diet as it could lead to diarrhoea and nausea src.

3. Onion

Onions are dangerous for dogs to consume no matter the form they are in.

They contain a toxic compound that damages a dog’s red blood cells, reducing their ability to carry oxygen through the body, resulting in anaemia src.

With that being said, don’t offer your chihuahua eggs made with onion in it.

4. Tomatoes

You should be wary of feeding your chihuahua eggs made with a large number of tomatoes, as tomatoes when consumed in large amounts can cause nausea, an abnormal heart rate, muscle weakness and difficulty breathing.

Unripe green tomatoes should never be fed to your chihuahua as they contain small amounts of tomatine, a toxic glycoalkaloid, that is harmful to dogs src.

5. Garlic

Eggs made with garlic should never be feed to a chihuahua as it contains a toxic compound called thiosulfates.

Thiosulfate may lead to anaemia by damaging your dog’s red blood cells.

It is important to note that wild mushrooms are toxic to dogs and could lead to mushroom poisoning.

2. Green Peas

You can add a few green peas to the egg batch because they are safe for dogs to consume and are high in nutrients and low on calories.

It is important to only feed your dog frozen or fresh peas and never canned peas because most canned peas are salted.

3. Carrots

Carrots are rich in vitamins and minerals. They are also low in calories, making them great and healthy snacks for dogs to eat.

Chopping them into tiny bits and mixing it into your egg mix would be a great way to get your chihuahua to have his vegetable.

4. Chicken

Chicken is rich in protein which is great for the growth of your chihuahua. That is why they are one of the major content found in most commercially sold dog food.
